Personal Development
In addition to the core academic subjects, a key part of the education of children is the acquiring of the life skills and an understanding of social behaviour that will help them in personal and professional relationships as they grow up and in later life.We promote the development of positive relationships between individuals and groups by giving each pupil a greater understanding of themselves and their individual capabilities.
At Aravon a high standard of behaviour is expected and in an environment that is disciplined, but happy, the children are encouraged to be courteous, well-mannered, and considerate of others. In this way we can provide and develop individual experimentation and experience in an environment of total co-operation.
In our rapidly changing and ever-demanding world it is important that from an early age children should have the opportunity to develop their potential and all their abilities, while enjoying the benefits of a safe, secure, structured and caring environment.
Throughout the primary cycle the boys and girls at Aravon School are presented with those opportunities and challenges and are encouraged to seek high standards in all areas of school life.
By its very nature Aravon is a ‘family school’ and the obvious happiness of our pupils is frequently commented upon by visitors.
We believe that learning is enhanced when children and staff are happy in all that they do.
At whatever level it occurs, achievement is acknowledged and is seen as of vital importance to the children’s personal progress, while not forgetting that they are experiencing a ‘childhood’ and must be allowed to enjoy that childhood to the full.
In the event of a child facing challenges due to learning difficulties, our fully-equipped Learning Support department with highly qualified staff ensures that no one is left behind.
Aravon is an Inter-Denominational school with a Christian ethos.
We endeavour to foster the child's spiritual and moral development through our religious education and pastoral care programs.
Great importance is placed on co-operation between school and home, with the school being seen an extension of a caring home, together preparing for the future in which we all live and work.
Within the school community discipline is maintained with emphasis being placed on developing personal responsibility and behaviour. Honesty, integrity and personal initiative are greatly valued.
The holistic approach to education taken at Aravon is reinforced by its woodland setting and beautiful grounds.
The invaluable ‘life lessons’ which cannot be gleaned from books, but which are absorbed by an appreciation of the environment, an understanding of the need to care for it and an awareness of the role that each of us must play in it, are essential parts of the Aravon way of life.
At Aravon each child is seen as a unique individual with the capacity to realise his or her potential to the full no matter what direction life may lead them.
We see it is our job to prepare them academically, socially and personally to cope with the many and varied opportunities and obstacles they may encounter in life - instilling in them the knowledge that ultimately they are their own greatest resource and that life is an adventure with challenges and rewards, which must be experienced and enjoyed to the full.
