Our Curriculum
We provide a balanced structured curriculum with clear progression. We meet the new National Primary School Curriculum in depth, to which we add an information technology programmeand the early introduction of a modern language, and a creative arts programme.
Particular attention is paid to English, Mathematics, and Irish and there is a strong emphasis on well-written and well-presented work.

Homework
In addition to lessons, Homework, or Prep, is considered an essential part of the child's learning activities. At Aravon children are encouraged to develop independence and responsibility in their attitude to their work and its organisation.

Class outings, talks and exchanges
To complement classroom teaching we provide additional experiences and further stimulation, such as visiting places of educational and cultural interest or by inviting guest speakers to give presentations or run workshops, while a programme of overseas residential visits is organised for the senior children to foster independence and to further enrich the learning experience.

Monitoring progress
Each pupil’s progress is carefully monitored, with work being marked constructively and rewarding effort as well as achievement.
Records of achievement, effort and behaviour are maintained as the children are continuously assessed with comprehensive written reports being provided each term and parent teacher meetings regularly scheduled.
Our academic standards are high and we are justifiably proud of our record, with many Scholarships being earned for entry into secondary schools, where Aravon past pupils traditionally perform to a very high standard and are regular winners of form prizes.

Extra curricular
We have a vast array of extra-curricular activities available to our children. These activities are incorporated into the school day so that they don't encroach on the children's valuable time at home. Read about the extra curricular activities offered at Aravon.
